Looks like I will be in Panama next month. I was just hired by Neptune Salvage & Consulting. They bought my mag and hired me as their remote sensing tech. We will be searching for submerged communication cables. Neptune has a contract with the Panama govt. to salvage abandoned cables. I'm going to Jackson MS to work on the recovery vessel, a 65' Choy Lee motoryacht. Once it is ready we will set sail for Panama. Neptune also has a 200' former Coast Guard bouy tender as their salvage boat.

Wreckdiver where are you in Panama? I will look you up and maybe we could get together for lunch.

Morning Pete, and congratulations, sounds like a good gig. Stay in touch and let me know when you get here, my local cel is 6547-1033.

I live on the Panama City side of the country and on the Cocoli side of the canal. The last lock of the canal, or the first depending on your direction of travel is visable from front front padio.

I will be back in Florida for the upcomming Midterm elections and then back in Panama shortly after Thanksgiving.I hear ya got a bunch of Commie bastards trying to take over our beautiful country, so I have to do my part to stop them.

I'm a little worried about Russ. I just called him. No answer. I called a few days ago and got the same results. No answer. He might be out at sea, having fun.

Well I will be back in Florida tomorrow. This project turned out to be a pipe dream. The principals have no money and are working on a shoestring budget. The search vessel is a 1984 Cheoy Lee 63 motorsailer. Not the one I posted. That was a joke. The Cheoy Lee was once a million dollar yacht but it sank and they raised it and replaced the Cat 3208 engines with Ford Leyman 90 horse diesels. It is severely underpowered.

Well...I'm glad you survived and as Buffett said....we do it for the stories we can tell. You have a new chapter or two.
There was a Canadian mining guy that bought the old Smithsonian vessel 'Urraca' to do a salvage project on some elusive submerged communications cable made of platinum (I think) . Urraca is still moored out there somewhere off Panama and that cable is still a mystery.
