WHAT?

I didn't get any email. check your email address spullinc. pirate6245@hotmail.com

I am waiting for the insurance offices to open and then I'm going detecting and get away from all the drama of the wreck, boat, moving, spending money I don't have and driving a truck that may have parts fall off at any second. I need one of those bumper stickers that says, "Honk if parts fall off". My body aches and I need a few days break to let things settle down. It's time to go play and relax and find some rotten old tourist gold left behind by the beach goers. Maybe I'll take the dink across to the island and do a little water hunting for trinkets and gold bars. Who knows, maybe I'll find something around some old timbers like these. This is a photo of a painting I saw somewhere. It just looked like the kind of thing that should be detected. All this drama with the insurance and such will still be here Monday. I'll see what it looks like then.

The sun just cleared the trees and hit me in the eyes. Time to get another coffee and relax.

Ahoy scubasmitty, I did get the email.

I just got off the phone with my insurance agent. She is very clear of what I should do and filled me in on what this idiot is telling me and that he is just trying to throw enough flack to get off paying. I then took what she told me and contacted the police who wrote the report and got the names and information I need there. I'll go to pick up the report after lunch. Also, there is an arrest warrent out for the driver and his truck. The crap about waiting until he hears back from his insured client is a bunch of stalling crap. My agent also said not to file with my insurance company and do not, under any circumstances get and pay for my own rental. It could be constrewed as an indication of possible guilt. Whatever that means. If the agent does not respond with a positive outcome I am to go over his head to his supervisor. If that does no good then follow up with the insurance commissioner and file a formal complaint and request for a quick response. Delaying tactics are used when the insurance company is looking for something that they can use against me and not for verifying their own insured's information. The police said that I was definately the victum of a felony hit and there is a police order to find and detain the driver and vehicle.

Okay, My batteries are almost charged so I am going to go get going and go pick up the reports and get ready to call this agent about getting my truck fixed or replaced and getting a rental to take care of personal business with. From them not from my insurance company. If I claim on my insurance, even for a rental, my rates will go up. I was the victum not the responsible driver. Kewel, now I go find some gold and silver and pop tops.

See Y'All,

Most all insurance agents are a bunch of idiots and are about as scrupulous as used car salesmen. They operate independent of the insurance company in most cases, so whenever I have a problem with them I go directly to the insurance company itself via a 1-800 number. While you have to use one of these fools to purchase a policy, there is no requirement to have to deal with them when it comes to filing a claim.
The State insurance board in Florida will be able to provide you lots of good information, but they have very little power to enforce the rules when it comes to fools like insurance agents.

Good hunting White Feather!

Glad to see you made it out alive John. Sounds like ropesfish has had a similsr experience. What was your ex's lawyer's name? I have had a headache all day dealing with this crap.

This morning I called my own insurance agent to see if she could help. She said do not call my insurance company and get a rental or get them involved. She said my rates would increase just for being there with that much damage. I guess even targets get hit once in a while. Anyhow, she advised me to get the accident report from the police, get the notorized statements from the three other wittnesses and then go back after this Michael. If he does not comply with what I want then go over his head to his supervisor as fast as possible. If that does no good go to the insurance commishioner and also get a lawyer.
I went to the police barracks and the report will not be ready until Monday. The dispatcher relayed my call to the officer who wrote the report and she called me back in about an hour. She said they are having a serious overload right now and paperwork is just getting a little delayed but it will get out Monday and I should call her in the morning and she will look into helping it along if she can.
I went over to a furniture store and looked at a few pieces and decided to wait until Sherene gets home to let her pick out the things she likes. I think I will also get her a new laptop and try to teach her to buy and sell on the net. Being in a wheelchair she will drive me crazy if she doesn't have something to do.
I've always said when I was in a tight spot that I'd rather fight a bobcat in a phone booth with a rubber bowie knife. Now a days kids don't know what a phone booth was unless they watch the old Superman series on reruns. I haven't seen one for about 20 years. They went to those little half covers and now you are lucky to even find one of those. Cell phones have all but eliminated pay phones on street corners unless you count the ones in all of our pockets. What a world changing invention. Now the world wide web.

I'm tired and hurting so I'm going to lay down and call it a day right after I check the rest of TreasureWorks. Sorry I didn't get to the beach today. I'll try again tomorrow.

Catch Ya Later,

Hmmm Farmers Insurance huh...

Now I'm not saying all are but isn't farmers insurance one of those "independent agent" thingies?

Some of them might just be doing insurance as a side business and not be very business savvy nor insurance savvy. I remember this guy in Las Vegas that would hang out at the gas station soliciting for customers. I mean I give the guy credit for grass roots marketing and he definitely has some mojo for doing it, but this fella you’re dealing with could be working out of his bathroom at home. Maybe that’s why he wants you to do all the work he should be doing…
I’d see if there is a regional office that you could talk to. (What am I thinking!! You’ve got enough on your plate and I’m sitting here bored as all get out until Penn State kickoff @ 3:30!!!)

Re: TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 30
It's blowing somewhere around 20 to 30 knots. I had to put down the third anchor just in case. I don't think it would be a good thing to drag my other anchors through the anchorage and bust up a bunch of the smaller boats. I'm moving the boat in a couple of days and don't need it wandering around alone before that.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not getting into any of it over the weekend. It's supposed to blow hard and rain on and off all weekend . I'm tired and have a constant headache so I'm just resting and enjoying some time doing nothing but sitting and watching some old movies. Right now it's John Wayne and Gabby Hayes in Blue Steel from 1934. I just needed a break and I like the real old movies. James Cagney, Jimmy Stewart and Gary Cooper are all on my list of favorites. Audie Murphy in To Hell and Back I have watched several times over the years. That and Sargent York. Both true stories about Medal of Honor winners in the first two wars to end all wars. Or so it was said.

Well, I'd best get on back to the boat for the night. With all this wind I don't like letting it sit to long without watching it.

Ahoy Y'All,
It blew all night and rained like we needed it. Been raining again all day but I went to the beach with my detector anyhow. I wandered around until the rain would get heavy and then head back to the truck and drive to another area while I waited for the rain to stop. It didn't. All I managed to find today was a couple dozen bottle caps, 6 pop tops, a broken key and a 12 pound clump of gold and silver mixed coins.

Nah I really didn't find that many bottle caps. I was just funnin' ya! The coins? Oh I must have left them on the beach. I can't find them in the junk bag. Bummer! I'll go back tomorrow and see if I left them sitting on the trash can at the parking lot.

Yup! You got it. Today was really a bust. No anything.... The rain kept running me off the beach. Very heavy rain and I left the pants to my rainsuit at the boat. Cold and wet all day. Even my shoes are tired.

Tomorrow I am going to try another beach. There is a nice one that I have been wanting to get over to and walk around with the detectors.

Well, I think I'm just going to throw some sort of roadkill on the fire and heat up some veggies. I'm tired and hungry.Yup, I think I'll put a movie on the DVD and relax a while.

Time to head for the beach. I think I'll try another spot today. I hate having to carry large heavy clumps of metal.

Yep! It also rained here for 40 hours and 4o minutes and the wind blew the Spanish Moss all over yard. The unsinkable Whaler is now underwater sitting on the bottom and the lake is a foot deeper. Good news is that I don't have to cut the grass. The weeds grew up and hid itfrom sight. The canopy on the pontoon boat remained intact in 25 mph winds.

Inside the house it's not quite so nice. I am closed up with 14 pooping puppies, 4 dogs, an old cat, and 2 birds and they are eating me out of house and home. The male, along hair Chiuaua, moans groans and howls in terminal hormone pain because he is prohibited from having any more sex with the poodles.

Looks like the weather has cleared up enough to day for me to drive to the store and get more Dog food. I can't wait to escape this reality and get back out on the water to the fantasy of Treasure Hunting. Dell

Dell, Reality is Treasure Hunting, fantasy is what we put up with between hunts. When you get out there be careful. Thin water can be a bear when you keep bouncing off the bottom. I was anchored once in 12 feet and the waves coming in were killer when the boat would hit the bottom between swells. I thought it was going to split the hull but she held fast. I sure don't know how though.

I went to one of the local beaches today and found nothing that I could bring home. Someday I'll dig up the guy who invented pop tabs and shoot him. The bottle cap guy deserves a shot or to also.

Sounds like you are having a time with all those critters. Many years ago my ex and I raised siamese cats. Seal points, linx points and a few others. We saw times when we had 18 to 20 kittens at a time. Talk about a circus. Immagine 20 little psyco-kittens stampeeding all over the place and climbing anything they could sink those sharp little claws into. Then there were the momma cats that would steal each other's kittens. It was a real nuthouse.

Well, it's late and i'm tired. I am moving the boat tomorrow or Wednesday up to Bradenton. I have to wait for the haulout a few weeks. Maybe I'll pull the dink and see if I can run up to your area once things settle down here.

WF, No doubt, I will be facing some challenges venturing into the unknown and there will be a certain amount of risk that will have to go un-calcuated in order to get things ready in time. Tomorro, should give me a hint that the motor and jet drive are in working order, Then the problem will be getting there, and then I will just have to take things as they come.

I won't have time to try to fix the Bronco, and the front wheel drive on the car isn't very good at pulling loads up slippery boat ramps.

I could probably get new batteries for my old EPIRB and see if it still works, but in this case it's just takes up space. I will take my hand held Marine radio but I doubt if there will be any one listening in that area. I can get on the lee side of one of the keys which should afford protection from the waves, but of course not the Mosquitoes. But as you well know that when you run into trouble it is unexpected, and rarely is there some one there immediately to aid in an emergency so you pretty much have to rely on your own knowledge, skills and strength to survive. But, if needed I'll be sure to call you for HELP. (to haul out the Gold that is).

I was going to call you tonight, but figured you would be in bed by 8 o'clock.

When you stop by maybe I can get you to help me take stuff out of the old motor home so I can see if I can sell it for $600 or $700 dollars. I need the money, and I have to clear my driveway otherwise the county will be on my neck for having too many boats & vehicles in the yard.

Sounds like a fun trip up to Bradenton, for you. Best of luck. Dell

Re: TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 30
Thank You Tom!

Ahoy and a Good Morning to all,
Dell; I am trying to get the boat up to Bradenton today or tomorrow and get ready to run up to pick up the Wench from Pensacola in a few days. We are going to stop by on the way back if you are home. If you are out treasure hauling we'll see you when you get back. I'll have to see how Sherene feels after the long trip and stops to visit her brother and sister. Give me a call on my new number 941-724-7119. Sherene has the other number with her in Pensacola.

scubasmitty; That sure looks like a good buy and I wish I had some money to jump into an idea like pooling with several of the guys but until I either sell the boat or until someone I know who is rich drops dead and leaves me a bundle of old dusty $100 dollar bill's my hands are tied. The boat will be paid off in TWO more payments! Then I'll be able to get into a shared adventure with also possibly investing some cash into the venture. It sounds like a good idea all around. Maybe I could use the boat as a loan to the group if they wanted to upgrade it as needed. I could help with some financing along with the use of the boat but that would have to be discussed with those involved and we would still need some smaller boats for getting into very shallow areas. When I scrapped the bottom last week we pulled the boat into water that was only waist deep at the transome. My buddy was standing at the swim platform with the top of his shorts out of the water. I asked if we were aground. He reached his foot under the rudders and prop and said there was a "good bit" of room between the prop and bottom. What his opinion of a "good bit" of room meant is open to interpretation. To me it means my props aren't going to bend if a wake comes along. To him it might have been the prop wasn't cutting his toes off yet. But, we were in about 3 1/2 feet and not hitting bottom. Now that's shallow!

Others could invest some equipment and whatever cash we could all muster up and try to figure out some kind of fair split should we find anything. Locating a place to start is going to be the trick. This season is all but passed into history but we could open next season ready to hunt with some serious equipment and the ability to go anywhere on the west coast of Florida at the drop of a dabloon. Maybe a meeting or gathering like the cookout for those willing to get involved and try our luck as a group of friends enjoying some time on the water doing what we love even if we just have fun and adventure with nothing more than that. It could all be worked out with a few meetings that we could centrally locate so it would be as equal distance as possible to all members wanting to get into the group. We all have something to contribute be it cash, equipment, manual labor or just advice and research.

Okay, who would be interested in something like this? I'm open to ideas and suggestions. Legal issues aside for the moment, what would you suggest? How would we have to start such a venture?

There's treasure out there waiting to be found and shown the bright sunlight again. Let's go look for it. If we can't do it alone we can do it this way. Even if we find absolutely nothing just think of the great time we will have anyhow.

WF.. that sounds like an excellent idea and I would be all for it... the only draw back for me would be the distance. If we could plan something well in advance and I could make a trip out of it from NY to FL for a weekend or week. I've gotten me wench into treasure hunting now and she has taken my metal detector and made me the digger! Digging up what ever she hits upon. The day after searching the beach though, her arms were sore from sweeping... So maybe she'll decide to dig next time. Of course we only found pull-tabs, bottle caps, beer cans, wire, and other junk of no value. She did manage to find a perfume sample bottle still capped and full of perfume, so that prompted her to search even more. Yeah I think she's got the bug now too! Am a lucky guy... got me a good wench to take good care of me likes to scuba dive and hunt for treasure with me... and uses her body heat to keep me warm on chilly nights
But I digress, back to the plan! I'm down with it if we can work out the logistics. Who else is on board? We got plenty of time to plan something out for the next season!

I have a 2 bedroom apartment and if the boat is in the water I have another 3 bedroom apartment with all the goodies that come with living on the water. You are welcome to stay here if we get this rolling as is anyone else involved. There is also local hotels that are very reasonable. I call reasonable under $50 a night. Cheap is also available in the area. I have also seen $165 a night when looking for a place to stay while the boat was out of the water. I finally got this place for $600 a month with pool, parking, and a gated complex. Bradenton is not Miami nor is it priced that way. There are lots of things to do here. Shopping is just a very short walk out the front gate. Less than a block away is Sweetbay , Home Depot, Lowe's, restaurants and lots more.

I have no idea where this is going but I'll do whatever I can to help anyone wanting to get into it. Bradenton is just south of St. Pete/Tampa across the Sunshine Bridge and about 15 miles north of Sarasota. Orlando is about 3 1/2 hours away and Miami is about 3 1/2 hours. The Keys are about 5 1/2 hours to Marathon which is in the middle of the Keys. Crystal River and Homasassa are both within a few hours of here. There are a couple of treasure hunting sites within a days ride on a boat and dozens withing a few hours drive with a trailered boat. The Treasure Coast is about 3 hours away. I would say that with a trailered setup you could go anywhere in South Florida in about 4 to 5 hours from here. Now all I have to do is get the dink loaded on the trailer and go find something that will help finance more serious hunting endevours.
