:woohoo: We are pulling away from the slip in a couple of hours. Everything is working(so far) and we are heading out as soon as I put the truck and dink trailer in the storage yard. We should be casting off by 11:00 or 12:00. :woohoo:

Plans are to head up the west coast of Florida to the Crystal River. That's about 250 miles from where we are. There is no hurry and we intend to idle most of the way to conserve fuel. At over $4.00 a gallon for marine fuel it is wise to conserve where you can. I'll try to post a few pictures from time to time. I'll be busy with handling the boat but I'll try to get Sherene to keep up on the picture taking.

:woohoo: TODAY IS THE DAY!!! :woohoo:

Here we sit anchored on the intracoastal behind Sanibel Island watching the sun set after a nice easy trip down river. We threw a couple of steaks on the grill and are fixing to go topside and have a Rum & Coke as another day fades into memory. We were escorted the last 5 miles by a large pod of dolphins. We really struck gold today. After two and a half years on the dock we are free of the lines that bind! :woohoo:

Here are a few pictures.
I'll try to make at least one entry a day. B) This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it. This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it. This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Check this photo out! I am sitting here on the computer on TreasureWorks and the wife is watching the big screen TV. We have an antenna that follows the DirectV satilite so she has her TV and I have a wireless internet. Ain't technology wonderful? This image is hidden for guests. B) June 8, 2011;
We hauled up anchor at 08:30 and headed up the intracoastal. Lots of beautiful things to look at and a dolphin escort. It was a long day and we dropped anchor just south of Sarasota behind marker 51 at 17:00. It is just a few minutes after sunset and the light is fading. We have run low on fuel and will start looking for an anchorage sometime tomorrow with the dink.

Running the ICW a few hours ago I heard someone call White Feather on the radio. I looked around thinking I was running a wake or had run over another boat. Nope, It was one of the guys from the cookout who was on his boat at his dock. I think his name is Steve. I was very busy with the busted steering and only had a few seconds to talk. That was awesome! I tried to remember the call sign of his boat but I can not. I apologise and hope I got the name right. I was so befuddled that I even neglected to get a picture. Shame on me.

Running the ditch below Venice is a nice straight run with a bike trail on both sides of the canal. I happened to look to the side and this kid was passing us on a bicycle. :woohoo:  I was running about 7.3 knots and this kid passed us. How's that for embarassing? We got a chuckle out of it.

Here are a few pictures from today. Tomorrow we begin looking for an anchorage until payday. Burning near 100 gallons of gas a day needs to be spread out a little. This image is hidden for guests. Good going White Feather, I envy you being in Florida and living on the boat. I hope to join you on the water when I'm done with all this running around overseas. I sure do miss Florida "No place like home".

PS I like the screen shot on your laptop :)

Ahoy Tom, you are welcome aboard any time. Next time you get up here spend a few days aboard and get the feel of real freedom and relaxation.

Today was a lazy kind of day. The only traveling we did was on the anchor rhode. Sherene had to get wet so I put the swim ladder extention down and stood by while she was in the water. Strong currents here so I wanted to be close in case she had any problems. Letting lose of the boat would have been foolish as the water was moving pretty fast. But all went well.

I installed three more solar pannels and ran the little genset on a full 4 gallon tank to see how long it would pull the boat load with everything running. I started it at 08:00 and it is now 20:00 and it is still going. I have the freezer, the fridge, the big screen TV, DirecTV box, and two fans going all day. The genset is a Husky 5000 with a Subaru engine. 12 hours so far with a full load. Nice little unit. Also a lot quieter than I expected. sitting here with the TV going and the bird gabbing away I can bearly hear it. Actually, I have to really listen for it and can still barely hear it. Of course this boat is 60 feet and it is at the other end out on the front deck and I am sitting on the couch at the back of the boat.
The onboard generator is still down. I can not find anyone to fix the dang thing. It is origonal equipment and is 42 years old. I got the books out again today and am trying to learn how to read Greek Trouble-shooting Techniques for the 6.5 KW Kohler. But this generator is doing very well and I am not in a hurry to fix the old one.

Otherwise the day was pretty relaxing. I got a few things fixed and rested. Just another day in the life of an old retired pirate person. Boring!

We got hit by one very large wake today. It did considerable damage to the birdcage when it was knocked over. Luckily Atty flew across the room onto the couch when the boat started rocking. Several items were knocked down but we just cussed at the idiot running 25 or so knots past an anchored boat. These type of idiots are the ones who give us all trouble at anchor or running the ICW. They have no consideration for others. I always slow down going past other boaters just as a comon courtesy. Never mind if I have the right of way and am in a 25 knot zone. People don't think about the damage or injury they can do with a boat running hard and pushing a large wake. It could have been very bad if Sherene had been fixing lunch on the stove.

Tomorrow we may go a little bit farther north. We will have to stop and get some fuel in Sarasota and then head north again. We'll see what the morrow holds!

ARRGH WENCH, GET ME A GROG!!! This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Why don't you kick that thing into high gear and get up here? We have treasure to find and grog to drink.

 Money Jeff! This puppy really sucks up the juice when you lean on those stick things on the dashboard. I gotta go slow! Also I am having a steering problem. I think the steering piston has stopped working on the left pull. Going right it will hit it's self in the butt. going left it takes two men and a Boyscout to turn the wheel. Nope, slow and steady. I'll go into Sarasota tomorrow and get fueled up and idle along some more. Unless, of course, you want to come down and tow us? See my speed in this picture? See the kid who passed us on a bike?

P.S. 22:51 HOURS AND THE GENERATOR IS STILL RUNNING!

B) Three more idiots waked us today. Most people slow down when passing anchored boats. One threw a wake so big that it did a lot of damage and sent one of my tool boxes sliding off the top deck. I'd sure like to catch up with him. Sherene was injured when she was thrown across the bathroom when she was washing her hair. The bird cage that has been siting in the same spot for 2 1/2 years was also damaged for the second time in two days. I guess these big new yacht owners have little or no knowledge of courtesy or rules of the road. Just spend big bucks to buy a big yacht and drive it like an idiot. I am beginning to believe that everyone buying a boat should be licensed. I have a Captains license even though it is not yet required for pleasure vessels.

Okay, sorry for ranting about idiots. I need a RUM! Argh Wench, Where's me toddy?

Here are a few pictures of life at sea, Sir!

B) Saturday, June 11, 2011,
This morning we moved the boat a bit farther out on the anchorage. To keep the batteries up and run the freezer and such we need to run the generator and we don't want to bother other people living out on their boats. We don't like when someone pulls in right next to us and starts loud music and such so we are very careful not to do anything to disturb their quiet and privacy. So, we moved away from the other boats.

I took Sherene out to lunch and we wandered around the waterfront. Now it's 5:00 here.

Here are a few shots from today.

Hey Dell, check out this little home made pontoon houseboat. that is here in the harbor. This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it. This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

We went to the restaurant that has the dinghy dock This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

For a great meal we highly recommend Oleary's Bar & Grill. We tried two seafood combinations and both were really outstanding. This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

We finally took the dink back out to the boat and are relaxing in front of the TV having a nice cold beverage. It doesn't get any better than this! This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

B) Hey Cornelius, Good to hear from you. Yeah, Sea Gypsy was the name on our friends boat that traveled with us for a few years. It becomes a way of life. Check this picture out. This Gypsy Preacher went by us an hour or so ago. Now this is the way to travel.

Awesome thread, love it, love it!!

Man that last picture so tugs at my heart!

It reminds me of my days working the 1715 Fleet and heading out Ft Pierce inlet in the morning, the sun rising on a brand new day and treasure waiting to be found!

You've already found your treasure now just go get some silver and gold!
