Well, we pulled the plug on Honduras for a little while, and have re-directed our attention a little bit further south. I have just arrived in Panama City, Panama and plan on spending the next few months down here exploring the history and searching for lost treasure.

I have the camera batteries on charge, so expect lots of good pictures to go along with some amazing treasure stories from down this way.

In the mean time I have some unpacking and some exploration to do of this very modern city.

B) One treasure is as good as another. If one is giving you a problem getting to it just change your plans and go after another one. :woohoo: There are enough of them out there that we don't have to take the really big risks to find one. Just keep searching and sooner or later one will be where you are looking. If we knew where they all were we would be called treasure gatherers and not treasure hunters. :woohoo: Good Luck, my Friend. Never give up!

Good afternoon all, well I have been off line since late last week when I finally moved out of the Marriott in downtown Panama City and into an apartment at the historic former Howard AFB, now known as Panama Pacifico.

I finally got the cable TV and Internet all installed and hooked up today. Yes! I am re-connected to the world again! Now if I can just get my Amazon Fire TV hooked up and running with a US IP address so I can get caught up on my favorite tv shows from back home.

I see that a couple of those low life spammers showed up on TreasureWorks during my absence, and deposited some of their crap on our site. Normally I am able to get them down as fast as they can post their $%!), but these fools were up way longer than they should have been. So my apologizes for that.

Well I have to go cook up some grub and then get caught up on all the post here, and then attack the email, I'm sure their are several hundred to go through, that may have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Today was an absolutely beautiful day down here in Panama so we headed over to the ruins of old Panama City, today it is known as the Archaeological site of Panama Viejo and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

This city was destroyed by fire in 1671 after it was captured from the Spanish and sacked in a daring raid by the pirate Henry Morgan and a pirate army of 1,200 men who marched through the jungles from the Caribbean side of the country to attack a force of 3,600 Spanish troops in the fortified city.

Hello Wreckdiver

Thank you for fantastic photographs of old Panama.

If you get the chance it might be worth checking out the lost Scottish settlement of New Edinburgh. quite a few vessels was lost around the harbor of settlement in its short existence. Very few people have seen the actual town and fort site. The last expedition there I believe was 1979.

Here is picture of some things that was found in 1979.

Thanks Kanacki, looks like a very good place to go explore. Looking at it on the map, it looks like it may be in the Forbidden Zone (my term), the good folks over at the Embassy tell me we need to get permission from the Panamanian Government to venture in that general area, basically anyplace near the boarder with Columbia due to the FARC and narco-trafficers operating in that vicinity.
I will definitely check into it further and see if their is a way to get over there. The info I see on line looks most fascinating.

You can see all the ships on the horizen waiting in the harbor waiting for their turn to enter the Canal heading north to the Caribbean

Hello Wreckdiver another place is the Island of Taboga 20 km from Panama city. Taboga in the Bay of Panama. You can get there by Ferry..

The place has a long history of piracy. There is a site where is three wooden crosses. This is site of 3 Privateers was killed about 1819. The had been raiding and looting along the coast. the story goes the island was recaptured off the privateers who used the place as a resort for a time. The Spanish recaptured the outpost. The privateers gun emplacements destroyed and cannons tipped into the sea.

It was another haunt of Henry Morgans Lieutenants called Robert Searle around 1671.

Heading out in just a couple of hours on our next adventure. This time we are heading east to the jungles of the Darien Province along the boarder with Colombia in search of lost Spanish settlements and pirate treasure. This expedition into the "Forbidden Zone" is expected to last a week or more. It is unlikely we will have much in the way of internet or even Cel phone connectivity for much of the time. However, I will post some updates on our progress whenever and if we can find the internet.

Darien Province as in Darien Gap?
Sharpen your knife, sharpen your wits and keep your other "tools" handy, Tommy. That is not a happy place.

Si, the Darien Gap. We made our way down the Pan-american highway today and worked our way through a series of boarder patrol checkpoints. We were required to get special permission from the Government to enter the Provence, and made it through the first 5 or 6 checkpoints with not much of a problem. The last roadblock was a little difficult as they had not received word of our impending approach. However, after a couple of calls we were finally cleared through.

Once you clear the third checkpoint the Pan-american highway turns into more of an old farm to market road than a highway with some seriously deep pot holes along the way. Of course we had rain most of the way, and after a while the pot holes disappeared under the torrents of water covering the road. But no problem, they are all rental cars.

We were able to locate a hotel in a small village as a temporary base of operations that actually has internet. No hot water, but we have wi-fi, and that's good enough for me. However, I'm sure I will be singing a different tune when I step into the shower. Cel phone service is spotty at best and I was worried we would not even have that.

ropesfish is absolutely correct, this is some serious jungle land down this way, and we have been warned of the many dangerous things we may encounter during this expedition. Everything from alligators, deadly snakes to Colombian FARC rebels and narco-traffickers. With that being said, most of us are former military types with a wealth of experience in these matters and are prepared for just about any contingency we may encounter.

But like I always say, if this type of extreme treasure hunting was easy, everyone would be doing it.

B) Be careful my Friend, it's the things we don't expect and are not ready for that tend to disrupt our honorable intentions. There's to much psyco-activity going on in the world today. We want you all to be able to come home in one piece and attend the next cookout with tall tales and lost treasure. We'll be watching and sending a prayer or two from time to time to keep you safe and healthy and return you home once again.

Not to worry my friends, I don't often explore the Darien Gap, but when I do I bring along a little back up! I ran into these guys a couple days ago. They are members of the "Senafront" aka Boarder Patrol, getting ready to head out on patrol.

I made the long trek up the Pan american highway this afternoon, and I am back up in Panama City tonight, and Wow! I had an outstanding trip into the "Forbidden Zone" this week. While I did not encounter any Guerrillas or Narco-Traffickers (that's a good thing!), during my journey I did encounter some very nice locals and of course our new friends with the SENAFRONT who had our backs most of the time in the Darien Gap.
The Frontier that is the Darien, is every bit as rugged and foreboding as has been described to me prior to my latest journey. However, it is an absolutely amazing place to journey into, It is a vast frontier full of wonder and mystery, not to mention lots of critters that bite in the night. Much of the Darien is untouched, and for many of the villages and towns that are few and far between, not much has changed since the arrival of the Spanish.
