I guess the older you get... the smaller the tank!

Picked up this 80 yesterday at SCUBA Panama, and used it to fill the spare air bottles, had to top it off afterwords using our little portable compressor. Rebuild of the Spare Air bottles went well, and no spare parts left over and none were leaking, so I guess I did good.

This last week I headed up to San Jose, Costa Rica to reset my Visa down here in Panama. Since my truck is still at the impound yard at Customs (Day 83), I had no other option to Fly to San Jose.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown, and was able to walk to the Museums that I wanted to visit. The first was the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, as well as the Numismatic Museum that are both co-located. Later I headed just a few blocks away and visited the Jade Museum.
I was very impressed with these Museums, all are relatively new and modern facilities with lots of exhibits. This is a stark contrast to most of the museums that I have visited during my 6 years roaming around Central America from Guatemala to Panama.
I took almost 300 photos on just the first day. However, I will just post a few of the better ones.

:woohoo: Awesome pictures, Tommy. They are some really beautiful coins and artifacts. Now you have to dig up a few with your name on them. Good Luck, my friend. I hope you can negotiate your truck out. Does it look like it will be released any time soon? Again I wish you Good Luck, Tommy.

The good news is that I got the truck back on the 18th just 92 days after I started the process. The bad news is that it took 92 days and cost me $3K by the time I paid the Import Duty, Taxes and storage fees of $9.50 a day. One of my gringo friends told me " just think of all the money you saved not having to buy gas", With that being said, it sure is good to be back in the drivers seat once again and not have to depend on friends, taxis or rental cars to accomplish little things like going to the grocery store or the barber shop.

One of my Colombian friends who is working with me down here also drove his van down from Guatemala, and completed the process in less than a week, and a lot less hassle. After he heard my story, he just started the paperwork up in David at the boarder with Costa Rica when he was up that way doing his 90 day Visa reset.

Yet another friend, drove his car from his home in Melbourne Florida to the port of Miami, but it in a cargo ship and shipped to the Port of Colon on the Caribbean side of Panama , and had it back in his hands about three weeks later. The cost of shipping his car was about the same as the storage fees I paid.

I finally received my new Panama license plates for ol "Panama Red", and promptly got tagged by a Dump Truck, go figure. Fortunately the pick up truck full of National Police that were in front of me at the time just kept on going, since I had just been out doing some detecting and did not want a bunch of cops snooping around the back of my truck.
Considering the size of the truck that tagged me, the amount of damage was minimal, and fortunately the truck driver did not seem interested in exchanging insurance information ( he most likely had none to exchange). In any case, a new tail light assembly will cost about $70 plus another 20 bucks to get it shipped down to me. I did find a junk yard with a couple of blazers in it but dammed if I can remember how to find the place again.
The good news is that the break light still works, but the left turn signal is out.

Thanks Gene! all is going well down this way. Heading back to Florida on the 23rd for a couple weeks to do some work around the house. Looks like we lost about a third of the privacy fence during the hurricane. Fortunately that appears to be the only damage that we received.
That and I have to perform my civic duty on the 8th of November.

At the Tocumen airport in Panama City, waiting for my flight to Atlanta, and then onto Orlando. Should be home in Satellite Beach in time for dinner.

All that climbing up and down jungle covered mountains down here in Central America has been taking a toll on me lately, so earlier this month when I hit the big 59 I decided that I could no longer haul my Minelab Excalibur on my excursions into the jungle.

In celebration of my birthday I decided it was time to get my hands on a lighter detector.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Excal and will keep it with my dive gear. After all, this is what that machine was designed for.

However, weighing in at just less than 8 lbs. it can be a little laborious packing it into the jungle, not to mention swinging it in search of lost treasure. That and it did not break down easily to fit in the back pack.

So when I started looking at detectors I remembered seeing a light weight collapsible detector at the Kellyco booth at last year’s Treasure Hunters Cookout. Big bonus, it was a Minelab machine.

So on my Birthday I got online an ordered the new Minelab Go-Find 60, as it met the requirement of being light weight weighing in at about 3 lbs. and easily collapsible enough to fit into my back pack and even small enough to fit into my much smaller Go-bag.

Well it finally arrived down here in Panama this afternoon and I’m a happy camper and ready for the next expedition into the jungle. Now I just need the rainy season to come to an end.

Tom let us know how that Go-Find 60 works. We might buy one if it's any good.

Heck Tommy, you've trimmed up like a Navy Seal! Those craft are perfect. Now get a 250 HP 4 stroke for silent running!

Lost a bunch of weight working in this hot tropical weather. I'm down to 205 lbs from my max of weight of 233 lbs. Still a long way from ever being built like a Navy SEAL.

Of course the older I get the harder it is to drop those pounds. Damn I miss my Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate Ice cream.

The manufacturer recommends a max horse power of 65
