I put a little video together of our journey into the mountains of Honduras for a BBQ. Deleted most of the GoPro dashboard video into about 5 minutes.
Thunderstorms were rolling in when we were getting ready to depart back down the mountain, and it only took us about 45 minutes to get back into the valley.

It belongs to Linda's family, she is the owner of one of the Hotels that we stay at here in town when we are down this way. She was kind enough to invite us gringos up to the villa last weekend. She and the girls got a kick out of a bunch of Gringos doing all the cooking and the clean up.
They all sure did enjoy all those burgers and hot dogs. The ribs and baked potatoes were absolutely outstanding, and I'm sure they enjoyed all the leftovers
A couple of local dogs came calling once that aroma started drifting through the woods, and they made quick work of all the bones once we cleaned all that good meat off em.

Patience my friends, I have not forgotten...

Remember that this is Latin America, and nothing happens really fast down this way unless you screw up. Then s#!* happens really quickly.

I do not plan on venturing down the same road as our other treasure hunting friends that left Honduras this last week with nothing to show for their efforts but mosquito bites and bad memories.

Things never happen as fast as we like, but a bit of good news that things are still moving forward. I received my passport back on Thursday and I was granted a one year special visa for my stay here in Honduras. So unlike my three year stay in Guatemala, I don't have to leave the country every few months for a day, and then return to start the countdown clock as is the case with a standard tourist visa.

Today we ventured about 200Km north of the capitol city of Tegucigalpa to Honduras's largest lake, Lago de Yojoa and the Parque Eco-arqueologica Los Naranjos. The archaeological park boarders Parque Nacional Montana de Santa Barbara, and unfortunately we did not have enough time to explore this National Park today, and instead concentrated on the ruins.

While the archaeological park is not all that large it offered us an opportunity to explore a pre-mayan city that dates back to 800BC, and is for the most part un-excavated and mostly still buried by centuries of overburden.

How time fly's when your having fun. I lost internet on my phone today, and realized that it was just two short months ago that we touched down here in Honduras. A quick run over to the Tigo store to add another month of service, and my android is back up and running once again.

I'm not sure how it was that we survived before we had all this technocracy at our finger tips, but when we find ourselves without connectivity to the rest of the world it's like damn, the world is coming to an end.

Hanging out at a clinic today. A second member of our team looks like he has the Dengue fever. Nasty virus spread by mosquito bites down in this part of the world.

:S Don't be playin' with them jungle critterbugs. We spent a lot of time traveling through Belize, Mexico and lots of third world islands and such. Even here in the sunny southland we have some serious critter bites. Be careful my Friend. Stay healthy.

Copy that WhiteFeather, fortunately our guy today just has a case of bronchitis according to the Doc, so no major cause for concern of dying any time soon. A little splash of quinine with my gin is always a good preventative medicine.

I was down with something nasty for most of last week. Not sure what it was but about half of us down here have been sick. But today I'm doing much better and I think the worst of it is over with. On the bright side, the down time gave me an opportunity to do some research and post the story of the Legend of the Taulabe Cave Treasure.
The day that we visited the Taulabe cave, we also took a detour to a local waterfall park, and it was absolutely awesome view to see.
