In the files of communist security service, an interesting letter was found. It contains the instructions, where the Home Army soldiers hid a part of the Nazi archive that was taken from Germans in 1945. Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) has already shown that the boxes of documents may still be there – writes a daily newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
According to the letter it is a part of Krakow's Gestapo archives containing, among others, personal records of informers and collaborators.
The letter was found this year, IPN team with the police and the workers have already made a preliminary inspection of the hideout.
However, it can be reached only by using specialized equipment for mining works. Soon IPN in Krakow will decide when it is going to proceed.
Whether the entire letter is an elaborate hoax or an extraordinary lead that could locate priceless documents may yet become clear over the coming month.
